Handy Celebrates 40 Years of Impact with Ribbon Cutting and $1 Million Grant

Handy marked a powerful milestone this month—celebrating 40 years of service to youth and families in Broward County with the ribbon cutting of its brand-new headquarters, a 40,000-square-foot facility at 2101 N. Andrews Avenue in Wilton Manors.

The event welcomed community leaders, supporters, and longtime partners who toured the state-of-the-art space, which more than doubles Handy’s previous footprint. Designed to meet the growing needs of youth across the county, the new headquarters enhances Handy’s ability to deliver wraparound services in education, mental health, housing, life skills, and now, healthcare access.

The celebration was made even more meaningful with the announcement of a transformative $1 million grant from The Jim Moran Foundation, presented in honor of their own 25th anniversary. This generous gift will help power Handy’s expanded operations, including the launch of a cutting-edge OnMed CareStation, a virtual “Clinic-in-a-Box” that connects youth with real-time healthcare professionals using advanced diagnostic tools.

“This building isn’t just for today; it’s for the kid who walks through these doors 30 years from now,” said Handy CEO Kirk Brown. “We’re evolving, expanding, and building a future for Broward together.”

The grant from The Jim Moran Foundation is part of its 25th anniversary commitment to supporting nonprofit partners in Broward, Duval, and Palm Beach counties with more than $5.6 million in special grants. “This extraordinary gift supports our ‘Putting Our Heart in the Right Place’ campaign and furthers our mission to create supportive communities where youth and families can thrive,” Brown added.

Jan Moran, chairman and president of The Jim Moran Foundation, reflected on the decades-long partnership: “With integrity and compassion, Handy helps create solutions that empower children and families for today, tomorrow, and well into the future.”

Additional speakers included Board Chair Michael Wild, Chad Moss of the Moss Foundation, and longtime board member Marsha Levy—all of whom reflected on Handy’s 40 years of transformation, resilience, and impact.

As Handy steps into its next chapter, the focus remains the same: putting youth at the center and ensuring every child has the opportunity to build a future they’re proud of.
