Our youth had the incredible opportunity to step into the world of hospitality during a hands-on career exploration experience at the iconic Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale!
The day began with a warm welcome and light breakfast before diving into engaging introductions with department leaders from Human Resources, Finance, Sales, Engineering, Guest Services, and Food & Beverage. These conversations gave participants a broad look at the many moving parts that make a hotel run smoothly and the wide range of career opportunities that exist within the industry.
From there, youth were paired with professionals for a rare behind-the-scenes job shadowing experience. They toured the beautiful property, took in stunning views of the New River, explored the fitness center, and even enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by the hotel’s talented culinary team. It was a powerful and eye-opening experience, allowing our youth to see the real-world application of hospitality skills and how their own futures could align with these exciting careers.
The day wrapped with a dynamic employability lesson and reflection session led by the hotel’s Director of Human Resources, an opportunity for youth to think critically about their takeaways and how to apply them to their goals.
