Empowering Youth with Scholarships and Support

In a remarkable display of community support and commitment, Handy recently awarded 25 scholarships to youth in the Homeless Education Assistance Resource Team (HEART) Program, who graduated from Broward County Public Schools and are now enrolled in post-secondary education.

“Congratulations to all these scholars and welcome to the Handy family. We will see you at your college graduation”, said Kirk Brown, CEO of Handy. “Our mission is to support these youth, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to pursue a brighter future.

The Handy Scholarship is more than just financial support; it is a commitment to walking alongside these youth as they navigate their educational journeys and providing the necessary resources to help them succeed. The scholarship can be applied to the bookstore for supplies, financial aid for tuition, housing assistance as well as food assistance. Youth “graduate” from the program once they obtain their certificate/degree. They are celebrated at the annual Scholars’ breakfast each May.
