Florida business taxpayers can earn dollar-for-dollar tax credits while supporting foster youth in Florida.
Strong Families Tax Credit Program
The Florida Strong Families Tax Credit was established in 2021 to support eligible charitable organizations that provide services focused on child welfare and well-being. HANDY is honored to be one of only a select few organizations in the state approved as a designated charity. Under the program, corporate taxpayers can make private monetary contributions to a designated charitable organization and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against the following Florida taxes:
- corporate income tax
- gas and oil production severance tax
- insurance premium tax
- use tax due under a direct pay permit
- certain excise taxes
What does this mean for you?
You can make a charitable donation to support vulnerable children and struggling families through HANDY, instead of sending taxes to the state.
$40 million will be available to corporations to apply for under the Strong Families Tax Credit on January 4, 2027 at 9:00 a.m.
The funds are allocated on a “first come, first serve” basis and historically, the available funds are claimed within 5 minutes or less.
Please note: The allocation of Strong Families Tax Credits is highly competitive. The $40 million available is typically claimed within minutes. Early preparation and timely application are essential to securing your allocation.

How Companies Can Elect HANDY
- Create an account on the Florida Department of Revenue Multi-Tax Credit Portal.
- Complete and submit Form DR-226000 with Helping Advance and Nurture the Development of Youth (HANDY) listed as the recipient.
- Wait for approval before making the contribution.
- Send the approved contribution to HANDY.
- Receive a certificate of contribution to claim the tax credit.
Important!
Businesses must receive approval before making their contribution. Credits are awarded on a first come, first served basis and historically disappear quickly after applications open.
