Spring Membership Meeting
Bunnies & Baskets

Back to Events

HANDY held their Bunnies and Baskets and Annual Membership meeting at the beautiful home of Pamela Huizenga Alexander on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The theme for the afternoon was “The Mad Hatters Tea Party.”

The event proceeds benefit the children of Broward County that are abused, neglected and abandoned and have been removed from their homes and placed either in foster care, or with relative and non-relative caregivers under court protection.  HANDY, Inc. is a unique organization that responds to the needs of these children on a day-to-day basis, one child at a time.  For more than 21 years HANDY has been providing a variety of essential and vital emergency services to these fragile children including food, beds, cribs and clothing as well as providing social and recreational programs so that some of the joys of childhood otherwise unavailable to them can be experienced.  HANDY also provides educational opportunities, vocational school and college scholarships, and the tools to become successful members of the community through their independent living program.

Guests brought stuffed bunnies and baskets that will be used by Melissa Shiff and her committee to make into spring baskets for the abused children HANDY serves.

Photographer David Decouteau captured the moment as the guests arrived in their best High Tea Attire, and placed the memories in keepsake frames courtesy of Katie Adler.  Afterwards, the ladies were treated to lavish teacakes and finger sandwiches served in High Tea Fashion by Edward Kelly of The Mad Platter as the younger guests created masterpieces of pottery from Joe Picasso’s.  Oceanview Rickshaw taxied our guests to and from the event. Miss Katie’s Charm School and Essentials Boutique provided strolling spring fashions for all to admire.

Our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors Joe Picasso’s and Miss Katies Charm School.

A special thank you to our Chairwoman Susan Greaton.
