HANDY held their 5th annual Biker Bash charity event at the beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood location on Friday January 12, 2007 from 7:30 pm to 11:30 p.m. Event goers were treated to a pre-event police escorted “bike-run” through the streets of Fort Lauderdale that began 6:30 p.m. at the HANDY offices and ended at the Hard Rock Hotel.
The event proceeds benefit the children of Broward County that are abused, neglected and abandoned and have been removed from their homes and placed either in foster care, or with relative and non-relative caregivers under court protection. HANDY, Inc. is a unique organization that responds to the needs of these children on a day-to-day basis, one child at a time. For more than 21 years HANDY has been providing a variety of essential and vital emergency services these fragile children in need of food, beds, cribs and clothing as well as providing social and recreational programs so that some of the joys of childhood otherwise unavailable to them can be experienced. HANDY also provides educational opportunities, vocational school and college scholarships, and the tools to become successful members of the community through their independent living program.
Gerlinde Photography treated guests of the event to photographs taken on top of a vintage show case bike displayed by event goer Wayne Bragg. Silent Auction Items enticed the guests with the piece de resistance being a one year lease of a Harley Davidson Sportster XL 1200L courtesy of Bruce Rossmeyer Harley Davidson. Auction winner was Roy Krause. The rocking tunes Platinum Gold Entertainment kept the atmosphere lively and had the guests up and dancing to music of the 70’s and 80’s/ For those who wanted to be a little more daring, on a temporary basis, air brushed tattoos were offered.
A special thanks to C&F Electric, Thermal Concepts and KPMG LLP for underwriting portions of the event and to all of our generous donors.
